Beyond the Bottle: MBF Machinery for Tomorrow’s Packaging

For over 20 years, Evolution BPS has been a trusted supplier of state-of-the-art, innovative packaging machinery to the beverage industry. Throughout this time, we have witnessed significant changes, including a recent shift towards environmentally sustainable packaging solutions as the industry strives to reduce its environmental impact.

“In response to this growing demand, we are experiencing an increased number of requests to provide machinery capable of handling eco-friendly packaging, both for current needs and future developments” Mark Blaik, Key Account Manager, Evolution.

Evolution BPS partners with world-class machinery manufacturers to deliver tailored solutions, ranging from stand-alone equipment to fully integrated production lines.

Their partner MBF is a prominent Italian company that has a pedigree in bottling technology, providing cutting-edge solutions for the packaging of wines, spirits, and various beverages. They design, manufacture, and install advanced bottling machines, primarily focused on delivering monoblocks that include rinsers, fillers, corkers, and cappers. These machines are highly versatile, handling not only traditional glass bottles but also more delicate packaging such as PET and paper bottles.

A key trend in the beverage packaging industry is the use of paper bottles, which are considered the packaging of the future due to their sustainability benefits. MBF has responded to this demand by developing a gravity bottling machine, which operates without the need for vacuum, ideal for paper bottle processing. Additionally, the company offers solutions to adapt existing filling machines, originally designed for glass bottles, to accommodate paper bottles as well.

For light PET bottles, MBF’s Ultra-Low Vacuum Filling Machine (ULV) stands out as an innovative solution. This patented technology is an evolution of the classic Low Vacuum Filling Machine and addresses the challenges of filling light PET bottles without causing deformation. The vacuum system operates both within the bottle and the filling tank, preventing the natural collapse of the bottle and ensuring precise filling levels. Furthermore, MBF’s ULV filler can be adapted to fill viscous products into larger bottles, enhancing speed and performance compared to the Low Vacuum solution.

MBF’s filling valves are designed to maintain the integrity of the product, ensuring that alcohol and aromas are preserved during the filling process, which is especially important for wines and premium spirits. By achieving accurate filling levels without the need for corrections, the company reduces the risk of contamination and enhances filling efficiency.

Particular care is taken in the handling of delicate containers, including PET and paper bottles, ensuring that both their shape and aesthetics remain intact during the bottling process. The company also emphasises cleanliness with circuits designed for efficient drainage and excellent sanitation. The patented CIP (Clean-in-Place) device automatically cleans each individual circuit without the need for dummy bottles or manual intervention, ensuring the highest hygiene standards.

Since 1997, MBF’s mission has been continuous technological innovation, aimed at addressing specific customer needs while ensuring safe and efficient product handling. Working in partnership with Evolution, their consultative approach fosters long-term partnerships with customers, contributing to their success.

In addition to MBF, Evolution’s network of partners includes companies specialising in various aspects of bottling and packaging. PE provides labelling solutions, Robino and Galandrino offer capsuling and wirehooding equipment, Logics and Controls specialises in inspection systems, and TMG handles end-of-line and case-packing solutions. All these companies are working towards advancing sustainable packaging technologies to support the growing shift toward eco-friendly solutions.
